WARNING: This item is set to explode one day after your warranty expires...

Last night, I decided that I was going to take the time to figure out why. WELL, I read the manual and managed to get the wifi turned on and Jon's computer working, etc, but right away I noticed people popping up on it. It seems that it wasn't locked. The instructions were not clear as to how I could set a password. I wanted it protected just because of all of the scary stuff I've heard about identity theft and what not.
I call the provider for tech support. The lady is very nice, it seems promising.
Then it happens.
She tells me she needs to run a quick test. I say, "OK."
Then she has me click a few boxes and suddenly nothing works. No internet at all.
I tell her this and she says, "Well I see that you purchased your router back in 2004. This means the warranty is expired, and from the test I just ran it shows that it isn't working properly and has not been for some time. You can purchase or lease a router from us if you would like. Yours is broken and will no longer connect you to the internet."
I say, "WHAT????? It was not broken when I called, I've never had problems with it! I was just trying to password protect the wifi!! I was not calling because it was not working! It was working before you messed with it!!"
She says, "I'm sorry miss, there is nothing that can be done. We would be happy to lease one to you with low monthly payments."
I hung up after going round and round with her. She was like talking to a brick wall. Just telling me it was broken and I needed a new one over and over and offering to sell me a new one. I could not deal with her anymore. I knew she was full of crap and I am too much of a lady to flip out on her. I'm sure she is just doing what she was told to do by some higher up. To avoid losing my temper I told her goodbye.
I knew this HAD to be some kind of scam. I was not born yesterday and have a few years of tech support under my belt not to mention I'm in sales and can smell a hard sell coming from a million miles away.
I went through the whole manual, found out how to reset the machine back to factory settings, then I reloaded the whole damn thing on my computer. Guess what? My "broken router" is working better than ever and has wifi and everything.
Imagine that.
As for the provider, what a scam, right??? I have a feeling we might be getting a new one, sooner than later. I am not pleased with their service at all.

February 15th, 2008 - One for the road.... (Maria's last day)

My dear friend and co-worker celebrated her last day with us today. We all went for drinks afterwards. She and I have been sharing a cubicle wall for a longer time that I like to acknowledge. You could not ask for a better daytime roomie. I will miss her a lot!
February 14th, 2008 - One for my baby....

Valentine's Day was AMAZING! Jon surprised me with a hotel stay, an evening at The Triple Door to check out a Sinatra impersonator, and an extra special surprise gift.
The hotel was beautiful, the dinner at Jasmine was perfect, the Sinatra was spot on! Jon had arranged for us to get the best seats in the house. We were right in the center right up against the stage. It was a perfect evening. I actually got teary eyed at one point during the Sinatra set because he did such a spot on job that it hit me that I will never get the opportunity to see the real thing. I LOVE Frank.

I was a little nervous at first, because I was afraid that an impersonator would come across as making fun of him, but this guy did it in such a way that it was a classy tribute, it had it's silly moments, but for the most part I think Frank himself would have enjoyed it.
At dinner Jon presented me with the most exquisite diamond necklace. I LOVE it! I was shocked!
I gave Jon a set of webcams for our computers so that it is even easier for us to stay in touch while he is overseas. With all of the Posies 20th anniversary stuff coming up, it looks like he will be spending all of April in Europe. Now we will be able to see each other! Don't you just love modern technology? I remember when he and I could only talk once a week and have to rush because it was costing us so much money and that was when I was in Alaska and he was in Seattle!! Crazy, no?
I wish you all a very happy day today. I am floating on a cloud (as comfy as this bed)

PS- I am still taking a photo a day, just have been a little slack on getting them uploaded with how busy I have been. Getting caught up...

February 12th, 2008 - Happy Birthday Abe!

He would be 199 today! Honestly, the day would have gone by unnoticed if it were not for my friend, Bree. She LOVES Abe so much she even got his name tattooed on her ribs!
Some surprise flowers:

Here is one of the cat toys I made over the weekend. (The purple seems to be the favorite color of the kitties!)

February 10th, 2008 - Knitters, kidders & kitties!

Bree and Olli came over and we played with yarn. They worked on scarves and blankets while I made little cat toys.

Here is a little nip stuffed mouse that I made.

Now playing...
I just have to sing the praises of this song. Every time it comes up on my iTunes it gives me a chill. It really is one of the most honest, straightforward songs I've heard from any popular band in a very long time (that doesn't have to do with the typical male/female drama.) It has to do with the pain between a child raised by a single mother and their deadbeat dad. Maybe it just hits close to home, given the fact I know so many fatherless children? (There is really not much worse than a deadbeat dad.)
Whatever it is, I LOVE this song. If you have not heard it, I suggest you go listen to it. I'm sure it can be found on iTunes for purchase, otherwise this is a video I found on youtube for it.
Styrofoam Plates
Artist: Death Cab For Cutie
There's a saltwater film on the jar of your ashes; I threw them to the sea,
but a gust blew them backwards and the sting in my eyes
that you then inflicted was par for the course just as when you were living.
It's no stretch to say you were not quite a father
but the donor of seeds to a poor, single mother that would raise us alone.
We never saw the money that went down your throat
through the hole in your belly.
Thirteen years old in the suburbs of Denver,
standing in line for Thanksgiving dinner at the Catholic church.
The servers wore crosses to shield from the sufferance plaguing the others.
Styrofoam plates, cafeteria tables,
charity reeks of cheap wine and pity and I'm thinking of you,
I do every year when we count all our blessings
and wonder what we're doing here.
You're a disgrace to the concept of family.
The priest won't divulge that fact in his homily
and I'll stand up and scream if the mourning remain quiet,
you can deck out a lie in a suit.
But I won't buy it.
I won't join the procession that's speaking their piece,
using five dollar words while praising his integrity.
Just 'cause he's gone, it doesn't change that fact:
he was bastard in life, thus a bastard in death

February 4th, 2008 - Haunted houses

Not really "Haunted" but the street looked extra creepy with the dark blue, cloudy sky. I thought it was funny that they came out looking kind of slanted in the photo as well.

February 2nd, 2008 - Giambotta

It isn't the best photo of it, but I nearly forgot to take the picture!
It turned out SOOO good! I highly recommend this recipe. You can find it HERE. Perfect for my veggie friends!
I did add some extra spices to taste, but anyone who has ever made soup knows that is how it usually goes.

January 28th, 2008 - Planting seeds...

It started off just a little clipping from another plant. Today it graduated from a jam jar to a real pot (One that was decorated by our nephews)

January 25th, 2008 - Take a closer look...

I took this photo from my window at work today.
What is wrong with this photo?
This man fell down and was bleeding. We called 911 as soon as we saw it.
The guy in the blue hat is helping him, the guy on the phone is calling 911, but the woman, she is having a snack while she is watching it all go down! Some people see blood and get grossed out, some rush to help, some think, "Snack time!"
The man was all right, he just had a fall and head wounds look a lot worse than they are. The fire dept came and cleaned him up and left. I hope he made it home OK. he didn't seem too steady on his feet.

January 22nd, 2008 - Frozen sunshine

It was deceptively beautiful outside today. One might have seen the blue sky and sun shining and thought it was spring, but everything was frozen over.
This is a birdbath I walked past today. It conjured images of teeny birds in teeny ice skates.

January 21st, 2008 - Full Moon

The moon was HUGE and pretty this evening. I don't know if it was full, but if it wasn't it will be soon. This is the moon hiding behind a tree that still had some leftover holiday lights.

January 20th, 2008 - The Auers

This was technically taken early Sunday morning at around 1AM, so it qualifies for Sunday's photo of the day. It pretty much sums up our Sunday anyhow. We were just hanging out being silly, watching movies, etc...
